Description
Hideaki Anno is a well-known director and co-founder of the studio Gainax.
However, he began his career as an animator, where he made his breakthrough thanks to some scenes from “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind” towards the film’s end. After the founding of Gainax, he first took on the position of animation director and then directed the anime “Gunbuster” for the first time. Afterwards, Anno fell into a creative hiatus after his most recent film, “Nadia, the Secret of Blue Water”, was slated. It was only with his most famous work, “Neon Genesis Evangelion”, that his career was revived. He is currently working on a final film in this series.
He has been married to the manga artist Moyoco Anno since 2002. An asteroid is also named after him.
