“Mononoke The Movie: Chapter III – Snake God” Streams New Trailer

Twin Engine has streamed a new trailer for “Gekijouban Mononoke Dai San Shou: Hebigami”, the third and final instalment of the “Mononoke” anime film trilogy. The film is scheduled to open in theaters across Japan on May 29, 2026.
Kenji Nakamura returns as chief director, with Tomoaki Koshida directing at Studio Kafka and EOTA. Yasumi Atarashi handles the script, while Taku Iwasaki composes the music. AiNA THE END performs the theme song “No Epilogue”.
The first two films in the trilogy – “Mononoke The Movie: Phantom in the Rain” (July 2024) and “Mononoke The Movie: Chapter II – The Ashes of Rage” (March 2025) – are both available on Netflix internationally.

Synopsis (Movie 1)
The conscientious and diligent Asa and the clumsy, but hopeful Kame begin their training at the same time in the Oooku, an area of Edo Castle reserved for women. Despite their differing personalities, the two quickly become friends, with Asa’s work ethic allowing her to achieve success at court much faster, whereas Kame’s clumsiness quickly draws the anger of the other ladies. But the deeper the two are initiated into the secrets of the Oooku, the more they get the feeling that something is not right there – until a medicine seller appears and claims that a “Mononoke,” a spirit creature, is wreaking havoc at court.
