I Can Hear Your Voice (2013)

As a child, Park Soo-Ha and his father are hit by a truck in his father’s car. But what looks like an accident turns out to be a planned attack when the driver, Min Joon-Kook, gets out and beats Soo-Ha’s father to death with an iron bar. Soo-Ha survives the attack, but a traumatic brain injury causes him to lose his voice for some time – and gives him the ability to read people’s minds.
At the trial, all the witnesses bail out; Joon-Kook has threatened them accordingly and Soo-Ha is still too young to have enough testimony as the only witness. Only the young Jang Hye-Sung stands up courageously and finally gets the murderer convicted.

Ten years later, Hye-Sung is working as a lawyer, but has not made a good name for herself because of her annoyed and bad-tempered manner. When his classmate ends up in court, Soo-Ha contacts Hyu-Sung by chance and the two begin to work together: While Hyu-Sung takes over the defence in the courtroom, Soo-Ha directs her actions – depending on how the judges and interrogators mentally react to her.
But then Joon-Kook is released from prison and he has a big bone to pick with the two of them.

Als Kind wird Park Soo-Ha zusammen mit seinem Vater in dessen PKW von einem Lastwagen erfasst. Doch was wie ein Unfall aussieht, entpuppt sich als geplanter Anschlag, als der Fahrer, Min Joon-Kook, aussteigt und Soo-Has Vater mit einer Eisenstange zu Tode schlägt. Soo-Ha überlebt den Angriff, durch ein Schädelhirntrauma verliert er jedoch für einige Zeit seine Stimme ‒ und erhält die Fähigkeit, Gedanken von Menschen zu lesen.
Bei der Gerichtsverhandlung springen alle Zeugen ab; Joon-Kook hat sie entsprechend bedroht und Soo-Ha ist noch zu jung, um als einziger Zeuge genügend Aussagekraft zu haben. Nur die junge Jang Hye-Sung tritt mutig auf und sorgt schließlich für eine Verurteilung des Mörders.

10 Jahre später ist Hye-Sung als Anwältin tätig, hat sich aber aufgrund ihrer genervten und missmutigen Art keinen guten Namen gemacht. Als seine Klassenkameradin vor Gericht landet, nimmt Soo-Ha per Zufall Kontakt zu Hyu-Sung auf und die beiden beginnen, zusammenzuarbeiten: Während Hyu-Sung im Gerichtssaal die Verteidigung übernimmt, lenkt Soo-Ha ihre Aktionen ‒ abhängig davon, wie die Richter und Verhörten auf sie gedanklich reagieren.
Doch dann wird Joon-Kook aus dem Gefängnis entlassen und dieser hat noch ein mächtiges Hühnchen mit den beiden zu rupfen.
