Tokyo Babylon (1990)

The 16-year-old twins Subaru and Hokuto have recently moved from Kyoto to Tokyo. Both are part of the time-honoured Sumeragi clan, which has produced Japan’s strongest yin-yang masters for generations and is considered the protector of the country. The 16-year-old Subaru has inherited the spiritual powers of his ancestors and, at his young age, is already the strongest master of all generations so far. In the capital of Japan, he pursues a variety of assignments, most of which are of a ghostly nature. For example, he takes on mysterious earthquakes on one of the upper platforms of the Tokyo Tower or courageously confronts spirits of vengeance.

His lively sister Hokuto lives in the same house as him and supports him with witty advice and ideas. She also repeatedly draws her reserved brother’s attention to the advances of the much older Seishiro, who seems to have fallen head over heels in love with him. He is a veterinarian and, as a descendant of the Sakurazukamori clan, also happens to be a yin-yang master. However, this family dynasty is notorious for producing killers and murdering people with their spiritual power. Seishiro is a good friend of the twins and takes loving care of them. He only has their welfare in mind, doesn’t he?

Die 16-jährigen Zwillinge Subaru und Hokuto sind vor kurzem von Kyoto nach Tokio gezogen. Beide sind Teil des altehrwürdigen Sumeragi-Clans, der seit Generationen die stärksten Yin-Yang-Meister Japans hervorbringt und als Schützer des Landes gilt. Der 16-jährige Subaru hat die spirituellen Kräfte seiner Vorfahren geerbt und ist mit seinem jungen Alter bereits der bislang stärkste Meister aller Generationen. In der Hauptstadt Japans geht er vielfältigen Aufträgen nach, die meistens geisterhafter Natur sind. So nimmt er sich rätselhafter Erdbeben auf einer der oberen Plattformen des Tokyo Towers an oder stellt sich mutig Rachegeistern entgegen.

Seine quirlige Schwester Hokuto wohnt im gleichen Haus wie er und steht ihm mit witzigen Ratschlägen und Ideen zur Seite. Auch macht sie ihren zurückhaltenden Bruder wiederholt auf die Avancen des deutlich älteren Seishiro aufmerksam, der sich scheinbar Hals über Kopf in ihn verliebt hat. Er ist Tierarzt und als Abkömmling des Sakurazukamori-Clans zufälligerweise auch ein Yin-Yang-Meister. Jedoch ist diese Familiendynastie dafür berüchtigt Killer hervorzubringen und Menschen mit ihrer spirituellen Kraft zu ermorden. Seishiro ist ein guter Freund der Zwillinge und kümmert sich liebevoll um die beiden. Er hat nur ihr Wohlergehen im Sinne, nicht wahr?

Subaru Sumeragi, de tan solo 16 años, es el líder de la famila Sumeragi, pero quizá es demasiado joven para ese cargo. Educado por su abuela, una dama muy estricta, se traslada con su hermana gemela a Tokyo, donde se gana la vida practicando sus artes y ayudando a los demás.
Allí conoce a Seishiro Sakurazuka, un veterinario que a pesar de pertenecer a su clan rival no practica sus artes, y consagra su tiempo al cuidado de sus pacientes... y en conquistar a Subaru.

Subaru e Hokuto sono due fratelli un po' fuori dal comune: sono infatti gli eredi della famiglia Sumeragi, che per secoli ha difeso il Giappone dalle forze del male grazie all’arte magica dell’onmyodo. Benche' origini di Kyoto, vivono ora nella capitale dove hanno trovato un grande amico in Seishiro Sakurazuka, un giovane e affascinante veterinario che sembra essersi preso una cotta per Subaru. Ma nell’affollata capitale c’e' ben poco tempo per l’amore: Subaru si trova subito ad affrontare il pericoloso fantasma di una giovane suicida e un misterioso spirito maligno che sembra dimorare negli abiti di una ragazza...
