Junio Brain Trust Co., Ltd.
Informations
Description
Junio Brain Trust Co., Ltd. is a Japanese animation production studio founded on June 25, 1970, as Studio Junio by former Toei Animation employees as a spin-off of a division of Hatena Pro.
In the 1990s, the focus of its work was on the creation of anime background images. At times, the studio employed 120 people.
In 1997, the company ran into financial difficulties due to missed deadlines for its productions and the resulting recourse claims, and had to file for bankruptcy in 1998. Due to the subsequent production stop, the animated film “Gundress” was only able to meet its already fixed release date in cinemas in an incomplete version.
In 2000, the company changed its name to Junio Brain Trust Co., Ltd. and realigned its business areas. 2004 was the last time it was actively involved in production. To this day, the company, or rather its managing director Takao Kozai, is only involved in managing the rights it holds.
In 2021, Kozai made another attempt to produce an anime. However, for various unknown reasons, this did not work out. The company continues to exist, albeit idle since 2004 and based on Kozai’s desperate rescue attempts.
