J-Novel Club LLC is an American publishing company specialising in publishing mainly Japanese light novels in English – primarily digitally via well-known platforms such as Amazon Kindle. The company was founded in 2016 and is based in San Antonio in the state of Texas.

In mid-January 2017, J-Novel Club entered into a partnership with Seven Seas Entertainment, a publisher specialising in light novels. As a result, some previously only digitally purchasable light novels such as “Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash” were also published as books through this.

In November 2019, the publisher launched the new imprint J-Novel Heart, with which it primarily publishes shoujo titles. The J-Novel Pulp imprint will follow in early April 2021. Under this new imprint, the publisher will publish mainly German titles in English. These include, for example, a series of novels about the fictional characters Perry Rhodan and “John Sinclair: Demon Hunter”.

The company was purchased by Kadokawa Corporation on April 28, 2021, and converted into a subsidiary.

In 2022, the company announced a new partnership. Instead of Seven Seas Entertainment as before, some new titles are to be published via the American joint venture Yen Press. For example, “The Misfit of Demon King Academy” will be among the first titles to be published by Yen Press as a physical volume. Likewise, the publisher announced that it will also release some light novels as audiobooks in collaboration with RBMedia.

On June 12, 2023, the subsidiary JNC Nina GmbH was founded for the German and French markets. Novels have been available to read online via the website since October 15, 2023. Print versions are planned in cooperation with other publishers.
