Arita Haruyuki wurde, weil er klein und dick ist, damals von den Schülern seiner Schule gemobbt, deswegen sah er sich selber als Versager und flüchtete immer in virtuelle Realitätsspiele. In der virtuellen Realität seiner Schule hatte er bei einem Tennisspiel immer die höchste Punktzahl, nachdem jedoch sein Rekord von Kuroyukihime geschlagen wurde, zeigte sie ihm ein neues virtuelles Realitätsspiel, die Accel World. Seitdem kämpft er an ihrer Seite in Nega Nebulous, eine der 7 Legionen in Accel World. Er hat sehr große Achtung vor Kuroyukihime und hat Gefühle für sie entwickelt, seine Freunde sind ihm sehr wichtig und auch wenn er vielleicht nicht immer das tut, was andere von ihm erwarten, setzt er sich doch immer für seine Freunde ein. Allgemein kann man sagen, dass er eine nette und gütige Person ist, da er auch ein wenig Mitleid mit Nomi hat. Sein Accel World Nickname ist Silver Crow.
