Edens Zero (2021)

In the Sakura Cosmos there are various planets, all of which have their own characteristics. One of them is the Planet Granbell, which is a single, huge theme park. In order to keep the attractions on this planet going, it was populated exclusively with machines, each of which was assigned a specific task. However, the heyday of this planet is long over. It has now been 100 years since a visitor set foot on it, which is why the theme park was closed and the machines were left behind. But with Shiki Granbell there is a human among all the machines who was adopted ten years ago by the Demon King Ziggy, the “King of Robots”, and brought to Granbell. Before Ziggy died, he taught Shiki the value of friendship. It was also very important to him that Shiki would one day leave the planet to travel the universe and learn new things.

Because the machines on Granbell have not been maintained since the theme park closed, it’s only a matter of time before their batteries run out of energy. Ziggy’s only wish was for Shiki to leave the planet before that day comes. He wanted to save him from losing all of his friends in one fell swoop. With the adventurer Rebecca Bluegarden and her companion Happy, the planet was revisited for the first time in 100 years. The machines saw their chance and made Shiki leave the planet with the two of them.

Their common goal is now to travel beyond the Sakura Cosmos and meet the mysterious Mother. In order to be able to put this venture into reality, they first of all set out to find Ziggy’s spaceship, the Edens Zero, and the former crew members, the Four Shining Stars, scattered throughout the cosmos.

Im Sakura-Kosmos gibt es die verschiedensten Planeten, die alle ihre Eigenheiten aufweisen; einer davon ist Granbell, der ein einziger riesengroßer Themenpark ist. Um die Attraktionen auf diesem Planeten am Laufen zu halten, wurde er ausschließlich mit Maschinen bevölkert, denen alle eine bestimmte Aufgabe zugewiesen wurde. Die Blütezeit dieses Planeten ist jedoch schon lange vorbei – 100 Jahre ist es nun her, dass ein Besucher seinen Fuß darauf gesetzt hat, weshalb der Themenpark geschlossen wurde und die Maschinen zurückgelassen wurden. Doch mit Shiki Granbell gibt es neben all den Maschinen auch einen Menschen; dieser wurde vor zehn Jahren vom Dämonenkönig Ziggy, dem »König der Roboter«, adoptiert und nach Granbell gebracht.

Bevor Ziggy starb, brachte er Shiki den Wert der Freundschaft bei. Zudem war es ihm ein großes Anliegen, dass Shiki eines Tages den Planeten verlässt, um das Universum zu bereisen und neue Dinge kennenzulernen. Doch dieser Wunsch hatte auch einen anderen Grund: Ziggy wollte seinen Zögling davor bewahren, auf einem Schlag all seine Freund zu verlieren, denn die Maschinen wurden seit der Schließung des Themenparks nicht mehr gewartet, sodass es nur noch eine Frage der Zeit ist, bis die Energie ihrer Batterien erschöpft ist. Doch dann erhielt der Planet mit der Abenteurerin Rebecca Bluegarden und ihrem Begleiter Happy seit 100 Jahren erstmals wieder Besuch. Die Maschinen erkannten ihre Chance und brachten Shiki dazu, den Planeten mit den beiden zu verlassen.

Ihr gemeinsames Ziel ist es nun, bis jenseits des Sakura-Kosmos zu reisen und die geheimnisvolle Mother zu treffen. Um dieses Unterfangen in die Tat umsetzen zu können, machen sie sich zuallererst auf die Suche nach Ziggys Raumschiff, der Edens Zero, und den im gesamten Kosmos verstreuten ehemaligen Crewmitgliedern, den Four Shining Stars.

Nel cosmo Sakura si trovano i pianeti più svariati, tutti con le loro particolarità; uno di questi è Granbell, che non è nient’altro che un enorme parco tematico. Per tenere le attrazioni in funzione il pianeta è stato popolato esclusivamente da delle macchine, alle quali sono stati assegnati compiti ben precisi. Il grande momento del pianeta è passato da un po’, sono passati ormai 100 anni da quando un visitatore ha messo piede in questo enorme parco, per cui il parco è stato chiuso e le macchine abbandonate là. Shiki Granbell è l’unico umano rimasto tra tutte quelle macchine. Egli venne adottato, dieci anni fa, dal re dei demoni Ziggi, il «Re dei robot», e portato a Granbell.

Prima di morire, Ziggi insegnò a Shiki il valore dell’amicizia. Oltretutto riteneva importante che Shiki potesse un domani abbandonare il pianeta per viaggiare per l’universo e imparare a conoscere cose nuove. Anche se questo desiderio nasconde un altro motivo: Ziggi voleva proteggere il suo pupillo dal perdere i suoi amici, visto che alle macchine non veniva più fatta alcuna manutenzione, ed è solo questione di tempo fino a che le batterie si sarebbero scaricate. Ma poi, dopo 100 anni, il pianeta riceve di nuovo visite con l’avventuriera Rebecca Bluegarden ed il suo accompagnatore Happy. Le macchine riconoscono la loro occasione e convincono Shiki ad abbandonare il pianeta con i due viaggianti.

Il loro obiettivo comune ora è viaggiare fino al di là del cosmo Sakura e di incontrare la misteriosa Madre. Per poter fare questo devono prima cercare l’astronave di Ziggi, l’Eden Zero, e l’equipaggio, Four Shining Stars, che si è sparpagliato per tutto il cosmo.
