Description

TMS Entertainment Co., Ltd. is a Japanese animation studio. Its headquarters are located in the Nakano district of the city of Tokyo.

Tokyo Movie Shinsha became Kyokuichi Tokyo Movie on the 1st November 1995 through a merger with Kyokuichi, which was renamed TMS Entertainment in 2000. The predecessor Tokyo Movie was founded in 1964 by Yutaka Fujioka, but due to the incorporation of distribution, the company was renamed Tokyo Movie Shinsha in 1976.

The company was incorporated into the Sega Sammy Holdings group in 2005 and became a subsidiary of the same. It is currently a subsidiary of SEGA Group Corporation.

Tokyo Movie was credited for animation work, while TMS Entertainment was credited for production. Today, however, this is only the case with “Case Closed”. Originally, Tokyo Movie was an independent animation studio (Tokyo Movie Shinsha was the business arm of this studio), but it was dissolved in February 1993.
