Synopsis

This OVA recounts two more experiences of manga author Rohan Kishibe, who seeks inspiration for his works from his travels around the world but usually gets involved in strange, supernatural incidents.

Episode 1: “Zange-shitsu”
Rohan finds himself in Italy, in the city of Venice, after having to put work on his manga on hold for a while. While visiting a church, he looks at the inside of a confessional. Soon, however, Rohan involuntarily finds himself in the role of confessor when someone else enters the confessional and begins to tell of one of his sins: some time ago, he forced a half-starved Asian beggar to carry heavy sacks of grain until he died of exhaustion. The ghost of the beggar appeared to the confessor and swore to take revenge. Several years later, the ghost returned to put his announcement into practice …

Episode 2: “The Run”
This time, Rohan finds himself in a place that has very little to do with the supernatural: a gym. There, he meets the young Youma Hashimoto, who has become a famous model in almost no time. But with growing fame came vanity, and so Youma spends more and more time taking care of his body until, eventually, his life consists only of that. Anyway, Rohan and Youma quickly become rivals, and soon a joint workout on the treadmill degenerates into a competition with serious consequences …
Annotation:
“Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan: At a Confessional / The Run” is one of the anime adaptations of the manga “Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe”, alongside “Mutsu-kabe Hill” and “Millionaire Village”. The two episodes were first shown in selected Japanese cinemas, starting on the 8th December 2019. On the 25th March 2020, the four episodes were released together on Blu-ray and DVD.
